Physiology of pregnancy

This educational course is dedicated to the fundamental physiological processes of pregnancy and labor, exploring the complex triad of fetus, mother, and placenta. The programme provides a structured overview of fetal circulation and adaptive mechanisms, the fetoplacental unit, maternal physiological adaptations, and the physiology of labor. A profound understanding of these mechanisms is essential for appreciating how adaptations occur in response to adverse conditions. By revisiting the foundations of normal pregnancy physiology, the course aims to strengthen understanding of maternal–fetal–placental interactions and their importance for safe and effective obstetric care.
